**Outstanding** A strikingly fresh nose mixes both white and yellow orchard fruit with floral, spice and hints of pain grillé. There is both good vibrancy and lovely delineation to the stony middle weight flavors that possess a textured mouth feel as well as a bit more overall complexity and persistence compared to the Truffière. This should amply reward 6 to 8 years of cellaring.
The 2012 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatieres is a very small cuvee this year – just two barriques from the lieu-dit “En Le Richard”. There is a sense of orthodoxy and conservatism on the nose coming after the vibrant and much more expressive Les Perrieres. The palate is well-balanced with mineral tones, a touch of ginger developing in the mouth, but it feels a little clipped and truncated towards the finish. (NM)
