Both the 2012 Zinfandel Duarte and 2012 Zinfandel Salvador are deep and richly fruity with the Salvador seemingly more intense than the open-knit, loamy, peppery, spicy Duarte.
15.8% alcohol; 3.55 pH): Bright red-ruby. Wild, vibrant aroma of huckleberry pie. Silky and dense but juicy too, with lovely high-pitched floral lift to the vibrant dark berry flavors. Lovely fruit here, given shape by a firm edge of acidity. I never would have guessed the wine has close to 16% alcohol.
The 2012 Zinfandel Salvador Vineyard is simply impeccable. Dark red berry and plum notes meld into spices, licorice, leather and smoke. Today the Salvador is supple and beautifully resonant, which means it will drink well pretty much upon release. This is a beautiful vintage for the Salvador.
