Medium red-purple; an array of leafy/earthy/cedary/savoury aromas leads into a palate with good complexity and weight, a mix of blackberry and savoury fruit with definite overtones of Bordeaux; has considerable length and presence. (tasted 10 Feb 2003)
The inky/purple-colored 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Hickenbotham Vineyard reveals a surprisingly elegant cedary, earthy, spicy, tobacco-infused bouquet, full body, outstanding concentration, and plenty of firm, austere tannin in the finish. Patience will be a virtue. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2020. (RP)
Bright ruby-red. Deeply pitched aromas of blackberry, licorice, dry spices and eucalyptus. Juicy and tightly wound, with strong, primary flavors of black fruits and licorice. Not as pliant as the Brookman Cabernet but brisk and gripping. Finishes with firm, ripe tannins.
