The 2015 Aristargos is a blend of 35% Chenin Blanc, 23% Roussanne, 15% Clairette Blanche, 19% Viognier and 8% Semillon. It has a captivating bouquet with lanolin, pressed flower and subtle nectarine aromas. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, lively and vibrant with nuanced fresh ginger and lemongrass notes that impart a judicious spiciness towards the finish. The 2014 was excellent and this might be even better.
Bright yellow. Clove, botanical herbs, honey, fennel and aniseed (the latter note very typical of Paardeberg, says Sadie) on the nose. Juicy, intense and energetic, with yellow fruit and honey flavors framed and lifted by a pungent wild herb character that runs through the wine. Finishes quite firm but not at all dry-edged. Sadie recommends pairing this wine with mild curries. (ST)
