The lavender, blackberry and currant aromas and flavors come through beautifully. A full and weighted red yet remains agile and bright. Polished and seamless tannins. Needs another year or two to soften but all ready so clean and beautiful.
A dark, sumptuous beauty, the 2012 Kata is a real heat-turner. Mocha, espresso, plums, black cherry jam and sweet spices are woven into a luxurious, super-expressive fabric of pure explosive energy. Wild flowers, violets, mint and lavender add the final layers of nuance. David Beckstoffer's Kata is quite possibly the single most exciting Napa Valley debut I have tasted over the last few years. 96+ (AG)
