The grapes of the 2014 Malbec were harvested very early and 70% of them fermented using carbonic maceration. The freshness is so impressive that I had to look at the alcohol level, which is half a degree lower than in the fresher 2013 vintage! There are some herbal aromas (think raspberry leaf), bright cherries and flowers, even lilies. The palate is very tasty, with some subtle bitter flavors, fine tannins and very good acidity. This is a triumph over the vintage. Bravo! This should be readily available, as they produced 500,000 bottles of it. And it's one of the best values in Argentina too! (LG)
Bright dark red. Inviting aromas of crushed blackberry, sandalwood and bitter chocolate lifted by a violet note. Juicy acidity enlivens the dark berry and spice flavors. A wine of moderate depth but this Malbec boasts good energy for the year and avoids the green excesses of 2014. Finishes with a firm dusting of tannins, a peppery nuance and decent length. The brisk, nicely integrated acidity of the current set of Tilia wines gives them lift and juicy drinkability. (ST)
Floral blackberry aromas are concentrated. The saturated palate is somewhat narrow in breadth, while boysenberry and minty oak flavors rank as dark. A wiry but juicy finish is lasting and offers a note of chocolaty oak. *Best Buy* (MS)
