With the way things have gone in the spirits world, recently everyone is either trying to BE the next big thing or FIND the next big thing! Whiskey reserves have literally dried up, both here in the U.S. and abroad. Some people have sat around lamenting the good old days, becoming bitter and grouchy about the current state of affairs. Others, like the two guys who run our spirits department, have worked hard, pounded the streets, thrown caution to the wind and diversified our selections, keeping us in good supply with the best the world has to offer. Copper & Kings is one of the coolest new producers that has come from this positive, proactive approach. Basically they found a guy who was one step ahead of everyone else and monopolized the country's supply of previously overlooked and underrated brandy. Whilst establishing his distillery's own aged expressions, he is dishing out some of the most authentic, delicious brown water that we have seen in years. This is a complex, rich, textured brandy with the perfect combination of maturity and vibrance. There is plenty of bourbon-inspired wood spice and sweetness, but also fresh, baked, golden stone fruit, clove and mineral more typical to these grape-based spirits. This is so versatile on your bar and the value (given the quality) is unsurpassed. If this was bourbon it would be three times the price and sold out...don't sit around waiting for shortage to end (it's gonna be a long time comin') get with the program and drink smart.
