The NV Cuvée des Jean Brut is 100% Pinot Noir based on two vintages, here 2011 and 2012. This Champagne bright citrus-colored Champagne offers a lovely, precise and fresh nose with white fruit and discreet strawberry aromas. Light and very elegant on the palate, this is a very elegant, delicate and round Brut that has been disgorged in December 2015 with a dosage of 7.15 grams per liter. Very nice grip in the stimulating finish. A very fine Champagne. (Tasted from Lot No. 1215.) Jean Josselin & Fils has been an independent Champagne producer since 1957. Located in Gyé sur Seine in the Seine Valley (south of Côte des Bar, so in the extreme south of the Champagne region), the family of Jean-Pierre and Véronique Josselin cultivates 11.7 hectares of vines on calcareous soils (Kimmeridgian); these vineyards which are dominated by Pinot Noir (82%), Chardonnay (4%) and Meunier (4%). The average age of the vines is 30 years... Out of a total of currently seven cuvées, I have tasted three very good Brut, with the NV Pinot Noir "Cuvée des Jean" being my favorite. (SR)
