From Mike Officer’s estate home vineyard (which has over 40 different varietals planted – amazing in an era where marketing “geniuses” advise monovarietal wines), the 2013 Zinfandel Carlisle is a big, spicy, meaty, Mediterranean-styled wine (350 cases produced). Full-bodied with lots of raspberry, blackberry and currant fruit, terrific intensity, a multidimensional texture, and an opulent finish, it can be enjoyed over the next 4-6 years. (RP)
The 2013 Carlisle Vineyard is superb. Dark, voluptuous and racy, the 2013 is a model of balance and harmony. The flavors are rich, voluptuous and explosive, with brighter shades of dimension that emerge over time. Hints of rose petal, spice and pomegranate add nuance on the dark, silky finish. This is Bedrock's first wine from Mike Officer's Carlisle vineyard. It may be a one shot deal, but there is a lot to like. Planted in 1934, Carlisle is one of the most diverse mixed blacks vineyards in the Russian River Valley. (AG)
Fresh and plump, with plentiful and well-focused fruit, offering notes of boysenberry and cherry, and accents of anise, mineral and white pepper. Drink now through 2021. (TF)
