Bright and brambly, this dense and textural wine brings strawberry and cherry fruit goodness front and center. It remains powerfully focused deep into a long finish, nuanced with cured meat and barrel toast.
A pretty, expressive and relatively high-toned nose offers up layered aromas of raspberry, cherry, spice elements and a hint of rose petal. The succulent, delicious, round and seductively textured medium weight flavors that deliver excellent depth and persistence on the well-balanced finish. This is really lovely and like the Eileen could be enjoyed young or cellared to good effect.
Ruby-red. Highly perfumed scents of dark berries, cola and rose oil. Fleshy, expansive black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors display a suave blend of richness and energy, picking up a spicy character with air. Finishes juicy and very long, with lingering dark fruit flavors and slow-building tannins. (JR)
*One Star* Very much proving the significance of site and the firmest, most acid-driven of the winery's Eola-Amity Hills offerings, this one is light and lean with a taut bit of red cherry fruit that takes its time to emerge. It is a bit underplayed at the moment and will never be a dramatic expression of richness, but it still wins the nod for its pert fruit and focus and may well find a slightly fuller voice a couple of years hence.
Light and supple, with an earthy, slightly meaty edge to the restrained black cherry and orange peel flavors, lingering gently against refined tannins. Drink now through 2019. 816 cases made. Web Only-2016 (HS)
