Crushed stone fruit, citrus blossoms, white peach, lanolin and a long, stony finish all strike the senses simultaneously in this weighty and bone-dry wine. Although still stern in its youth, there is a depth of richness that a few years in a cellar will greatly reward. This is a concentrated, focused white steeped in dry extract and limestone minerality.

Petrol with a hint of honeysuckle on the nose, this gorgeous Riesling presents all the minerality you could dream of from Alsace, plus slight salinity throughout the palate and a racy acidity that sneaks in at the finish. Trimbach is always a favorite but the expressive 2009 shows exceptionally well. Bright with complex texture and notes of lime, honey, and some stonefruit, this should age beautifully but I can't help but want to drink it immediately with something spicy.

Riesling fans will want to splurge on this one! The Cuvée Frédéric Émile is a beautiful Riesling drinking incredibly well and showing a deliciously liberal expression. Fueled with all the classic hallmarks -- aromas of petrol and citrus blossom, generous acidity and stony minerality, a mid-palate rich with tropical fruit and weighted texture -- this wine just plain delivers. The finish is a mix of zesty, salty fruit that just lingers and lingers. A lovely wine, well worth the $50 price point.

Beautiful nose, with just a bit of that Riesling fusel nature, but on that palate this wine gets serious. Power, structure, length all allow that spiced floral nose to languorously coil around the center. A wine with a long life ahead!

The Trimbach family tradition of viticulture dates back to 1626. Yes, you read that right, they have been in the industry for 390 years! Read the above ratings from the critics (and below from our in-house critics!) to see exactly what this wine is all about. On the nose, the wine is youthful and bright with faint aromas of petrol and apple skin. On the palate, the wine bursts with citrus, pear, apple and finishes clean with lingering acidity. This is a truly special one. Drink now or hold. Your choice.

Truly a superlative offering from one of Alsace's most prominent producers. This is full-bodied dry Riesling in its prime. Developing great texture and supreme complexity, the 2009 is drinking like a dream. Big honey, big citrus aromatics, powerful mineral and fresh white pepper on the nose. The palate bodes well for this wines future, great structure and intensity, but open and ready to go if you need it. You can drink it all up right now, or put it away for another decade or more.

Where to start with this one? How about from the top, IT'S REALLY TASTY WINE! Believe it or not this is still showing an amazing amount of youthfulness and energy. In fact, I'd still call it a baby of a wine. Loads of bright citrus, fleshy stone fruit and spice up and down and all around. A real showcase of what amazing Riesling is all about...

Petrol, slate, key lime, and salt aromas set the stage for a bracing mouthful of Riesling. And it does deliver that, though not only that, as it broadens considerably in the mouth, finding a creamy texture, and a suggestion of sweetness, without ever losing sight of its coiled tension and thorough-going minerality. Apple and pear flavors mesh with spice notes, and something quinine-like, before it all ends with pin-point precision. The more supple fruit component finally echoes gently down the long, lingering finish: this really puts on quite a show!

With 7 years of age, the Cuvee Frederic Emile is just beginning to develop. The nose burst with aromas of white flowers, honeycomb, herbs and a subtle hint of petrol. On the palate a smack of minerality like wet stones shows first, with white tea, rhubarb and white nectarine shining through. While this Riesling is drinking exceptionally now, it is structurally sound, with bright acid and big texture, ready to sit in your cellar for a few more years. Enjoy it now with some Szechuan food.
