The 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape continues to drink fabulously, with its complex kirsch, leather, dried underbrush and spiced meat-driven profile. Rich, seamless and nicely concentrated, with some still-kicking tannin on the palate, it should be consumed over the coming 3-4 years as well. (JD)
Big and brawny, with lots of brambly tannins framing the blackberry and black currant fruit. Notes of fig, licorice and tar take over on the muscular finish. Long, driving finish drips with dark fruit. Drink now through 2020. (JM)
Medium ruby color. Very ripe, full aromas of jammy dark berries, roasted coffee and dark chocolate. Thick and weighty, with solid structure and dense dark berry fruit flavors that build in the glass. Serious, brooding stuff. (JR)
