Clos Lojen is Ponce's most approachable red, with the lively red and darker fruits showing great purity and generosity, while the precision, fresh acidity and crunchiness all betray Juan Antonio's love of fruit forward, yet structured wines the likes of which his favorite French vignerons produce. 2015 is the best Clos Lojen I have yet to try - delicious, clean fruit Juan Antonio Ponce is one of Spain's leading lights amongst a new, younger set of vignerons who pair their vineyard knowledge with serious discipline and curiosity in the cellar, often borrowing techniques from the north of the border, where their influences are more likely to reside in the Loire, Beaujolais and Burgundy than in Bordeaux. Used larger barrels and foudres, separate fermentations according to parcel, foot treading for the red wines, and no additions (apart from a minimal amount of sulphur) are a few of the typical work methods chez Juan Antonio.
