Toquette produced two Cabernet Sauvignons, both 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Las Piedras from this Beckstoffer-owned vineyard is all clone 4. The wine exhibits a dense purple color, plenty of blackberry and blueberry fruit, some loamy soil undertones, full-bodied opulence, and a rich, long finish with sweet tannin and good vibrancy and acidity. It should drink well for 25 years. (RP)
Sweet red cherry, plum, mint and new leather are some of the notes that flesh out in the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Las Piedras. Dark, unctuous and racy, the 2013 offers fine balance, but it feels a bit blowsy today, with less of the incisive minerality that is typical of this site. This is an especially intense, super-ripe Piedras. (AG)
