*Barrel Tasting* Fleshy and inviting, with plum paste, blackberry coulis and black tea notes woven together and backed by a twinge of iron on the finish. Features some showy toast.
One of my go-to, consistently excellent St.-Emilions that tends to over-perform its pedigree (although it was elevated in the 2012 St.-Emilion classification), Barde-Haut’s 2013 reveals lots of spice, red and black currant and plum notes along with good minerality in a medium-bodied, modern style. There is some depth and ripeness, although it is more superficial than in top vintages. Drink it over the next 6-8 years. (RP)
