Tasting Notes

Chante Cigale means singing cicada (a type of grasshopper/cricket). The property has been in the family since the 19th century and is currently run by Alexandre Favier who assumed the reins at the ripe old age of 20. The domaine is planted to 40 ha of red and 5 ha of white on 45 different parcels throughout the appellation. L'Apostrophe is a blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah grown in Travaillan, about 15 km from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This is a fresh and fruity everyday sipper to drink early and often.

All the hallmarks of the Rhône are present, with flavors of red raspberries, black cherries and loads of tobacco and Asian spices. This drinks like a baby Châteauneuf, which is no surprise since these guys are one of our favorite Châteauneuf-du-Pape producers.

Wowwy wow, I was not expecting this to be SO good. Awesome dark fruit and depth on the nose, followed by a rich texture that's perfectly balanced by the juicy acidity. I guess the 2015s are going to be the real deal. Can't believe the balance and depth they've achieved at this price point.
