*One Star* A substantial complement of nicely ripened, white melon fruit spreads out beneath this ample effort's mildly weedy, vaguely straw-like varietal veneer, and a bit of enriching oak makes a subtle, but welcome appearance as well. On the palate, it is a somewhat fuller and richer rendition, but it stops well short of being at all oversized and stays in very comfortable balance all the way to a lengthy, well-focused finish. It is a Sauvignon Blanc best suited to service with flavorful fare such as poached salmon or chicken sautéed in plenty of butter.
Steely in stony minerality, this lovely offering was blended with 18% Sémillon and whole-cluster pressed for an ultimate mouthfeel of juicy fruit. High-toned lemon and pear offset the intense acidity, combining richness and ripeness with brightness. (VB)
