K&L Notes

An 88-acre estate, Château de Montfaucon sits just across the Rhône River from the esteemed vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It is owned and operated by Rodolphe de Pins, a UC Davis graduate and former member of the winemaking staff at Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe. Over the years, Château de Montfaucon has developed a HUGE following amongst both our staff and customers.

Ripe, soft and crowd pleasing, this wine would satisfy a myriad of palates and dishes making this an accessible and affordable choice for any occasion. Red fruits intermingle with licorice, spice and dried herbs to deliver a well balanced beauty.

Always a K&L favorite, this is a big step up from their Cotes du Rhone! Deeper and more intense flavors of red fruits and a varietal of herbs and fresh spice.

This is deeper and bolder than the regular Montfaucon bottling and shows more cracked pepper, earth and dark fruit in a chewier, heartier style. Amazing value here.

The sun-kissed, fragrant wines of Lirac are fast becoming some of my favorites, and this delectable Rhone red clearly demonstrates why. There is a 'thereness' there, a sense of character and purpose, as if the terroir and vines and grapes in all their collective wisdom conspired to create a wine that simply said yes, this is what I am, drink me, savor me, enjoy me. Warm earth, red fruits, licorice and spice, all deliver and entice.
    Top Value!

Wow! The nose on this baby is gorgeous! Dusty with lilac and earthiness, the Lirac is both expressive and feels slightly more linear than the Côtes du Rhône, but delivers just as much rich purple fruit through the palate, with a lifted finish. A balanced, beautiful offering from Montfaucon at a killer price.

The Montfaucon Lirac takes everything we love about the Cotes du Rhone, softens it, and adds just a smidge more red fruit flavor. If you like the balance and the elegance of classic French reds, but like the fruit more than the earth or the acidity, this one's for you. A hot deal for fifteen bucks.

The 2014 is the second release of this wine and it is a great in-betweener, fitting snugly between the Cotes du Rhone and the Baron Louis. It is a touch richer than the CDR and shows more meaty expressive qualities. Reminds me of a baby Pegau!

The Lirac is spicier and earthier than the Cotes du Rhone, with a core of peppery raspberry fruit that's a bit weightier and denser, as well. This is simply a steal at $14.99, and we expect it to sell quickly.
