Here's a wine that represents the true value movement in Burgundy. The 2012 Domaine Mouton Givry comes from far down south in the Côte Chalonnaise, which is located north of the Mâconnais. This cool little red has notes of bay leaf, red cherry and spice that follow through to a palate of much the same, as well as rustic notes of wet stone and forest floor. A throwback wine, this feels like what most vignerons were drinking at home 50 years ago. (Alex Pross, K&L Burgundy buyer)

If you are looking for a great, old-style Burgundy that is drinking beautifully now, this 2012 Givry from Domaine Mouton is a perfect fit. The wine displays medium body with darker fruit and an emphasis on savory, umami flavors. This would be an excellent match for lamb, pheasant, or mushroom-based dishes.
