An enticing aroma of oyster shell and seashore graces the white peach and lemon flavors in this harmonious white. Lingers nicely on the stony finish. Drink now through 2020. (BS, Web-2016)
A pungent nose features notes of petrol, straw, pear and a hint of tea. The round and supple middle weight flavors possess a suave but vibrant mouth feel before concluding in a saline-inflected, persistent and balanced finish. This is really quite good for a villages level Chassagne...
The 2013 Chassagne Montrachet Village Blanc, which is already in bottle, has a fragrant bouquet with hints of white peach coming through, although it is more reticent than the premier cru as one would expect. The palate is crisp on the entry with very good acidity, a citric ribbon from start to finish that is nicely controlled. This seems like a step up from the 2012 last year and with aeration, a pleasant spiciness develops on the aftertaste. (NM)
