A mixture of domaine and non-domaine fruit. All but four villages allowed in this appellation. 13 months in oak. Bottled. Light to medium cherry red. Smells sweet-fruited and juicy. Then more savoury and spiced on the palate but the scent of red fruit goes through to the end. Juicy, fine-boned and lively. Super-smooth and persistent. (JH)
The 2014 Côte de Beaune Villages, which was completely destemmed and comes from the Côte de Beaune except the appellation of Beaune, has a pleasant nose of raspberry preserve and strawberry. The palate is taut on the entry, a bit sharp thanks to the acidity, but there is a sense of brightness on the tart cherry finish. Enjoy now...why not? (NM)
