This is the most engaging vintage of this wine I have tried. While it is big, it is a RRV Zin after all. There is a freshness and balance to this wine that has you wanting to take a second and third look at it. Ripe and juicy cane berry fruit tones are on the nose and the palate backed with lots of spice and smoke. It is not just about the fruit, it is the structure and concentration that supports the delicious fruit, without it drawing any attention away from it. It is the ripe tannins and acid that give this wine a dynamic pop!

The Limerick Lane Russian River Zinfandel is made from some of the oldest vines in the Russian River Valley, with the youngest vines on the property being 47. The wine reflects the depth and the character of these grapes, with a floral and spice aromas of violet and star anise. There is definitely a ripeness to this wine, and fruit flavors of blackberry and ripe raspberry abound, but the baking spice and black pepper components of this wine provide a backbone that holds things together nicely. Refined and robust!

Not only is this a delicious, well-crafted Zinfandel, but the people behind it are awesome as well. This is Limerick Lane's flagship wine that's bold and rich without being jammy or sweet. There's plenty of dark berry flavors with rich cocoa and meatiness backed with great acidity and structure. You can't go wrong with a bottle of this!

What I love about Limerick Lane's Zinfandel is that it captures the essence of great California Zin in it's bold, rich majesty but without any overt sweetness or overly confected characters. It's a big, dense, chewy wine that certainly isn't shy- but it's also authentic, balanced and faithful to the most quintessential of California flavors. Frequently international visitors to the Bay Area ask us at K&L for wine recommendations to take home; their tendency is often to gravitate toward Napa Cabernet and whilst there is no shortage of stellar Napa Cab, I'm love to give them Zinfandels such as Limerick Lane...this is truly the type of wine that most authentically conveys the states vinous history (and it's just darn delicious).

I am a huge fan of this producer’s Zinfandels, I have even aged some, and not a lot of producers can make Zins that age... Limerick's Zins, though, age gracefully and mellow. Dark ruby color, dense, deep and aromatic, this Zinfandel shows ripe blackberry fruit with hints of tar and cocoa powder. ( Not a bad thing to drink sooner than later as well ).

Our friends at Limerick Lane, brothers Jake and Scot Bilbro, continue to turn out spectacular bottlings from the old vines on their property. Blackberry, cassis, blueberry, raspberry, Santa Rosa plum, mineral and spice, with medium plus acidity and medium tannin. A gorgeous, well balanced, elegant Zinfandel to enjoy now with BBQ or steak, or to tuck away in your cellar. This lovely wine has the bones to age- but only if you can keep yourself away from it long enough! As Robert Parker has said, "If you haven't caught on to the magic that is emerging from Limerick Lane, it's about time."

I tasted this newly released 2014 two weeks ago at our weekly staff tasting and it was right up my alley....not a big, jammy style but, one with balancing acidity and spice and tobacco flavors. It does start off ripe and juicy on the palate, but, it is a flavorful, red fruit juiciness that has peppery spice and raspberry/boysenberry fruit. This makes it super versatile for both drinking on its own and enjoying with pretty much everything from grilled meats to barbecue. Having had experience with older bottlings from Limerick Lane, it will also age very, very well for at least 4-5 years.

This is one of my go to's when customers ask me for powerful and rich Zinfandel. Loads of blackberries, cherries and and a nice amount of smoke fill the glass, while black pepper and bacon fat add character and complexity. Big velvety tannin and juicy acid are all found, but are seamlessly integrated. Another outstanding offering from Limerick Lane!
