Pale, green-tinged yellow. Cooler, more precise aromas of pear and lemon ice. Juicy and aromatic in the mouth, showing very good precision to the flavors of pear, stone fruit and white flowers. The wine's touch of sweetness (actually, 2.2 grams per liter) is nicely buffered by ripe acidity and saline minerality. Finishes savory and long, with good mineral firmness. Terrific balance here. (ST)
A smooth talker, boasting peach, apple pie, spice and distinctive mineral flavors. Dense and taut, with a long, complex and spicy finish that suggests the best is yet to come. Best from 2017 through 2023. (BS)
Moderate reduction pushes what appears to be ripe fruit to the background. As is typically the case this is both bigger and richer than the Charmois with good mid-palate density to the still vibrant and well-detailed medium weight flavors that terminate in a saline and balanced finish that again offers good but not truly distinguished depth.
