This joint venture between El Dorado Hill's Dry Diggings Distillery and the famous Corti Brothers' store in Sacramento has quickly become one of the whiskey world's darlings. The hybrid style stands out, in that they finish aged Kentucky or Indiana bourbon in incredible old Mission del Sol barrels. California's answer to Portuguese Madeira, this unique dessert wine is the perfect seasoning for a whiskey barrel. We don't always love wine barrel-finished bourbon, because bourbon is so delicious and complex on its own, but after 18 months in these special barrels this whiskey is a delectable dessert in a bottle. Think big, rich, nutty notes with nuances of caramel and chocolate. It's not sweetened, but it feels like it might be on first nosing. A truly unique addition to the California whiskey scene.
