Like many of Burgundy's families, the Mongeards have been in the region a long time, having arrived in Vosne-Romanée sometime in the 18th century. The family has likely been making wine for almost as long--records show a Mongeard as the vingeron for the famed Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is 1786--so it's probably safe to say they have Pinot Noir in their blood. These days the Mongeards own 33 hectares across 35 appellations, and it is led by Vincent Mongeard, who started working with his father, Jean Mongeard, back in 1975.
