Lots of hot-stone and currant aromas follow through to a medium to full body, firm and chewy tannins and a fresh finish. Minerally. Better in 2020.
Impressive density of fruit here - bold and powerful and multi-layered. This deserves bottle age to develop - the structural balance will last a good few years, and the ripeness is spot on. (RH)
The 2014 de Franc is a supple, fruit-driven red to drink over the next few years. Super-ripe cherries, mocha, new oak and sweet spices meld together in a juicy, mouth-filling wine with plenty of near-term appeal. The style is flashy and forward, yet also nicely balanced. This is very pretty for what it is.
This has a direct, fleshy core of dark plum and cherry fruit that melds with the tarry spine and smoldering tobacco notes. Shows more muscle than purity, but remains solid overall. Best from 2018 through 2022. (JM, Web-2017)
