The 2010 Les Mottelettes Bouzy Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Extra-Brut is from a Chardonnay plot planted in 1960, in the lower part of Bouzy, where the pure chalk lays only 50 centimeters below the top soil. Disgorged in November 2015 with a dosage of 2.6 grams, this cuvée (which did not see any oak during the vinification) opens with a deep and ripe, very precise and complex bouquet. Full-bodied, pretty rich, but pure and dry, this is a remarkable if not great Blanc de Blancs full of tension, grip and character. The finish is reveals a firm structure, pure minerality and great length. This is an outstanding Blanc de Blancs from Bouzy. Highly recommended. The yield was 35% down, due to strict selections because of botrytis. 92+ (SR)
The 2010 Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Les Mottelettes Grand Cru is endowed with tons of energy. There is a real sense of translucence to the expressive orchard fruit, citrus and floral notes. The aromatics are just a touch forward, which suggests the 2010 is likely to evolve on the faster side of things. For that reason, I would prefer to catch the 2010 sooner rather than later. Today, it is a terrific and rewarding drink. Dosage is 1.8 grams per liter. Disgorged: April 2016. (AG)
