Since 2011, when the new generation took over at Charriere, the wines at the chateau have become cleaner, fresher, and more concentrated with ripe fruit flavor. They're de-stemming more of the fruit, which is lessening the funkier, earthier notes, and enhancing more of the juiciness of their fantastic pinot noir grapes. 2015 in particular is a benchmark year for Charriere, and it's one that will truly highlight just how good of a deal our import program is providing. The Hautes Cotes de Beaune expression is made from 60-70 year old vines, has gobs of red cherry flavor, and is absolutely delicious from front to back. You're getting true Burgundian character from a great vintage for less than twenty bucks. With the 2016 frost vintage looming around the corner, I'd recommend loading up big here.
