Smoky nose but lots of precise crystalline fruit too. Very juicy and full of brilliantly bright-fruited life. Beautiful white burgundy that is only just ready. Very neat. Doesn’t have the density of the Bachelet-Monnot Bâtard-Montrachet 2011 but this is beautifully balanced.
(Bernard Billaud began aging this wine in 100% used futs as of vintage 2011): Pale yellow. Musky aromas of mirabelle, toasted brioche, lemon, rose petal and spices. Densely packed and youthfully closed, even austere, but hints at lovely high notes of jasmine and fleur de sel. Very unforthcoming on the spicy back end and in need of seven or eight years in the cellar. But long on potential. (ST) 93+
The 2012 Chablis Grand Cru Vaudesir has a crisp and precise, granitic nose that blossoms with aeration. The palate is very well-focused with good depth, hints of orange peel, tangerine and a dash of ginger livening up the finish that feels long in the mouth. Great potential here. (NM)
Dried pear, spice and licorice notes take shape in the 2012 Chablis Vaudesir. Slightly burnished, oxidative overtones give the 2012 a bit of a forward, heavy quality vis-à-vis the other wines in the lineup. There is plenty of breadth and raw power in the Vaudesir, but less in the way of finesse. (AG)
100% barrique fermented. Even more complex and inviting than the Mont de Milieu 2014. Mealy/creamy aroma that also has some orange and apricot fruit. Very rich and at the same time very crisp. Deep and spicy and with that cedary complexity of a mature Chablis. A grand wine, still only just integrated. (JH) 18/20 Points
