The 2013 Nuits Saint Georges les Fleurières, which is also matured in 30% new oak and underwent a protracted malolactic fermentation, has a potent blackberry and raspberry nose. The palate has a vitamin-like purity, fine tannin and a very sleek and seductive finish. (NM)
Bright medium red. Deep, brooding aromas of medicinal black cherry, cassis and spices complicated by notes of menthol and bitter chocolate. Suave, smooth and lightly saline, with brisk acidity framing the nicely concentrated dark berry, licorice and bitter chocolate flavors. Plenty of tannins and a slightly peppery finish call for some patience. (ST)
