Small batch open-fermented, 35% given extended maceration, blended and matured in French oak (40% new barriques) for 14 months. Xanadu paints an unerring landscape of intense, elegant Margaret River Cabernet, with a stream of cassis fruit bordered by gravelly but fine tannins, oak insistently completing the picture. Great value.
A concentrated darker fruited and dark green leafy and herb nuanced style that has power and plenty of tannin depth, long and rich. Mulberry and plum, supple and even. Great balance here.
Inky ruby. Potent, mineral-accented boysenberry, cherry liqueur, vanilla, mint and potpourri aromas are complicated by a suave Indian spice nuance that builds steadily with air. Seamless, round and alluringly sweet, offering palate-staining black and blue fruit liqueur and floral pastille flavors and hints of mocha and black cardamom. Finishes sappy and extremely long, displaying round, even tannins and a late, lingering touch of candied flowers. (JR)
This paints a true picture of Margaret River in its sage and bay leaf shadings and concentrated cassis fruit. It's all framed by hints of vanilla and toasty oak, but the emphasis remains on dried herbs and fruit through the long, mouthwatering finish. Drink now–2030. *Editors' Choice* (JC)
Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is redolent of plums, cassis and dried mint notes with hints of cedar and Mediterranean herbs plus a touch of earth. The palate reveals nice ripe tannins and a lively backbone supporting a good core of medium-bodied fruit, finishing with very good length. (LPB)
