A fine and polished Le Plus with fine, sophisticated and polished tannins. Full-bodied, juicy and bright. Pretty fruit, acidity and tannin harmony. Old vines.
The 2016 Le Plus de La Fleur de Boüard is 100% Merlot from the estate's oldest vines. Imposing and dark, with a huge core of fruit, the 2016 shows great promise. Hubert de Boüard plans to give the 2016 34 months in oak, an approach I am not sure works or is even necessary. To be sure, the purity of the flavors at this stage is striking. (AG)
An 'uber cuvée' made in a different style to the softer, fresher Château La Fleur de Boüard. It's clearly extremely well made, with ripe, plush, velvety damson fruits on full charge. 100% Merlot aged in 100% new oak for 36 months. They are just bottling the 2014 right now. (JA)
The 2016 Le Plus from La Fleur de Boüard has an opulent, almost decadent bouquet that delivers a payload of ripe black cherry, cassis and boysenberry jam aromas, hedonistic rather than heady. The palate is full-bodied with very ripe black fruit laced with dark chocolate and plenty of cassis; this is a large and rounded, sumptuous Lalande-de-Pomerol that exchanges the finesse of the vintage with sheer concentration.
