Made from 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvedre, from 40- to 70-year-old vines, the 2013 Rasteau La Fontaine is a gorgeous effort that has classic Rasteau richness and depth, yet also shows a seamless, elegant and classy style. Black raspberry, currants, ground herbs and pepper all emerge from this full-bodied, nicely concentrated effort, and while it has a soft, supple feel, it should evolve nicely for 4-5 years. Located in Rasteau, this small, family run estate was create by Georges Perrot, who bottled his first wine in 2002 while renting cellar space from Andre Romero of Domaine Soumade. (JD)
