A very mild touch of reduction shaves the top notes from the earthy red berry fruit-scented nose and I would suggest decanting this first. There is a really lovely sense of underlying tension to the relatively precise and stony middle weight flavors that possess good volume and fine length. This would make an excellent choice for an all-around house red plus it should repay a few years of cellar time too. Drink: 2019+ *Outstanding*
The 2014 Bourgogne les Grands Chaillots comes from domaine and purchased grapes, and is vinified at the domaine. It has an open, very cool, stony bouquet with blackberry and blueberry scents developing. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, and it is crisp and tensile with good backbone towards the masculine finish. This is impressive, if a little serious. (NM)
