The 2008 vintage showed immense diurnal shifts in temperature, and a dry growing season. This resulted in fruit with high acidity and great complexity, which shows in the Grand Vintage brut from Le Brun De Neuville. Using only the cuveé, or the first pressing, this blend is almost entirely Chardonnay from the Bethon village in Sézanne, with four percent Pinot Noir included for structure. Aromas of underripe golden apple, subtle nutmeg, and delicate chalky mineral lead to a light bodied, bright, clean palate with hints of spiced raspberry and red currant. The finish is long with abundant, chalky minerality.
