Tangy, mineral nose with remarkable purity of fruit and lift, showing scents of white peach and apple aromas. Splendid attack, rich and robust on the palate with force and pungency but not aggressive. Nutty and mineral, with a very long and bright finish and impeccable balance.
The 2015 les Clos from the Moreau family is outstanding this year. The wine is deep, complex and already showing the first touch of candied lemon peel to come in its aromatic profile of apple, flinty minerality, candied lemon, dried flowers and a topnote of beeswax. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and absolutely rock solid at the core, with fine focus and grip, very good acidity and a long, complex and classy finish. This is going to be outstanding.
Light-medium yellow. Pineapple, wet stone and a suggestion of flinty silex on the nose. Dry, classic and backward but comes across as riper than the Valmur even though these grapes were picked very early, on September 3 and 4. The tightly coiled citrus fruit, wild herb and crushed stone flavors will need time in bottle to unwind and gain in texture. This extract-rich grand cru finishes with rising length and powerful citric cut, with some unabsorbed CO2 giving it a slight dry edge. (ST)
This is singing today, offering peach, apple, stone and honey aromas and flavors. The brilliant structure keeps the elements delineated. The finish echoes mineral and lemon notes. (BS)
(from a huge 2.9 ha parcel). Notes of smoky mineral reduction are present on the fresh if overtly exotic aromas of tropical yellow fruit and a whiff of iodine. There is impressive concentration and power to the broad-shouldered medium weight flavors that exude a fine bead of minerality on the intensely saline, lemony, dry and solidly persistent finish.
