Despite the fact that this solid, but fairly tightly wound offering is still very young and presently prone to gangly stiffness, it shows convincing glimpses of mildly gamy and spicy Syrah at its heart and gets the nod for its fruity energy. However, it is a wine in much need of age, and it requires a minimum of three or four years of cellaring.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Syrah Annadel Gap Vineyard displays red and black berry notes with underlying black pepper, cinnamon stick and Provence herbs hints. Medium to full-bodied, the softly textured palate offers herb-laced black fruits notes with great freshness and purity, finishing long and peppery. (LPB)
From a west-facing site at the base of Hood Mountain, this has a chewy solidity to its deep black and red fruit flavors, its ripeness overt and powerful. An edge of peppercorn spice plays a savory foil to the mass of fruit
A 100% varietal and estate-grown wine, this has a puckering density to the palate amid a plushness and richness of body and weight. Dense in blackberry and plum, it offers additional elements of tar and crackling bacon. (VB)
