I loved the 2015 Saint Joseph and while this region can be slightly erratic, that’s certainly not the case with this producer. Blackberries, blackcurrants, crushed rocks and a hint of burning embers all emerge from this full-bodied, concentrated St Joseph that has top-notch richness and flavor intensity. It needs short-term cellaring and will drink nicely for over a decade. (JD)
(made from fruit grown on a one-hectare plot of granitic soil near Tournon) Bright violet. Fresh dark berries, cherry compote, potpourri and olive, along with a smoky mineral topnote. Sweet and focused on the palate, offering blackberry, bitter cherry and violet pastille flavors enlivened by juicy acidity. Dusty tannins build slowly on the long, penetrating finish, which leaves notes of blue fruit and bitter chocolate behind.. (JR)
