The 2013 Estate Blend is built on a core of Cabernet Sauvignon, with healthy dollops of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Powerful and sinewy in the glass, the 2013 speaks with an authoritative voice. Raspberry jam, white chocolate, spice and new French oak suggest a racy wine, but the tannins are still pretty tightly wound. Then again, we are talking about 2013. I would prefer to give the Estate Blend a bit more time in bottle to see if it becomes more welcoming. There is good potential here. (AG) 93+
The deep garnet-purple colored 2013 Estate Blend, made up of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot, 4% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot, is scented of sautéed herbs, damp soil and moss-covered bark over a black and red currant core with touches of bay leaves and stewed plums. The medium to full-bodied mouth is firm and chewy with plenty of freshness lifting the earthy palate, finishing with an herbal lift. (LPB)
