Mint, sassafras and orange display a candied aspect on the nose, and are then backed by unabashed sweetness on a subtly oily but buoyant palate. A hint of heliotrope adds allure that persists as inner-mouth perfume. The same suggestion of honeydew melon liqueur that was observed in the corresponding Kabinett rushes in midpalate here as well, reinforcing the wine’s confectionary aura. Thankfully, though, the combination of cooling herbal influence, subtly nutty piquancy and a surprising measure of fresh orange juiciness keeps the long finish from being the least bit cloying, let alone boring.
