The 2016 Puy-Blanquet is rich, supple and inviting. Moreover, the 2016 shows just how appealing the vintage is, even among lesser-known properties. Dark stone fruit and spice notes flesh out in a hugely delicious, creamy Saint-Émilion that will drink well with minimal cellaring. Although not especially complex, Puy-Blanquet is absolutely delicious. (AG)
A firm and structured young wine with blackberry, berry and dark-chocolate character. Medium body and fine tannins. Lovely energy and clarity.

The 2016 Puy-Blanquet is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. It has plenty of lush red cherry and cranberry fruit on the nose, a smear of vanilla from the new oak that will be subsumed by the time of bottling. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly rustic tannin. Yes, there is a bit of hardness here, but that will soften, and there is plenty of freshness on the grainy finish. Fine. (NM)
