Excellent color for the vintage. Blackberry, blueberry and raspberry pie aromas in this. Full and velvety with lovely fruit. A little one-dimensional, but it’s focused and the fruit is ripe. Give it two to three years of bottle age. Better in 2014.
A sleeper of the vintage from the perfectionist proprietor of Chateau Ausone, Alain Vauthier, this elegant St.-Emilion offers up scents of lead pencil shavings intermixed with blueberries, black currants, and boysenberries, and plenty of minerality. This 2006 should drink nicely for 10-12 years. Good value. (RP)
Fresh black currant fruit gives this wine all the vivacity of the 2006 vintage. It is a beautiful, elegantly crafted wine, as you would expect from the same team as Château Ausone, and it has a lovely lightness of touch, with its final note one of delicious juiciness. (RV)
