The 2014 Pinot Noir (Anderson Valley) is a bold, absolutely delicious wine to drink now and over the next few years. Racy and explosive to the core, the 2014 boasts serious depth, with tons of up-front fruit and the layered radiance that is such a signature of top Anderson Valley Pinots. This is an impressive appellation-level Pinot that overdelivers, big time. I was deeply impressed with these wines from Knez. According to winemaker Anthony Filiberti, naturally occurring low yields in 2014, along with less juice per ton than recent vintages such as 2012 and 2013, combined to produce unusually rich wines. Filiberti adds that sugars were actually quite modest, but that long fermentations gave the wines their their intense, rich textures. Readers who want to know why the 2014 vintage is magical for Pinot Noir will want to check out these wines from Knez. (AG)
