The Vaulorent bottling is a selection of the most structured, grand cru-like cuvées, giving complexity and depth. Peach, apple and vanilla flavors play out on the long, smoky finish. (BS)
Lively appley nose that is fresh, vibrant and elegant. With a fresh, silky attack, the palate is very elegant. This has purity and texture, with less power than some other crus but a stylish, citric finish. Drinking Window 2018 - 2028
The 2015 Vaulorent from William Fèvre is equally superb, offering up a deep, pure and nascently complex bouquet of pear, lime, orange blossoms, chalky minerality, a touch of paraffin and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and nicely primary in personality, with a rock solid core, impeccable focus and grip, bright acids and a very long, focused and classy finish. Another stellar bottle in the making! 2019-2040.
The 2015 Chablis 1Er Cru Vaulorent is a selection parcellaire within the vineyard. It has a tightly wound, quite backward bouquet that demands coaxing from the glass, hints of white flower developing with time, albeit reluctantly. The palate is well balanced with hints of orange cordial on the entry, harmonious with touches of yellow plum and dried honey towards the harmonious finish. This will benefit from 3-4 years in bottle, but it should evolve into a crisp, taut and classic Chablis. (NM)
from a huge 3.63 ha parcel out of only 17 ha and most of it is hard by Les Preuses. Séguier calls this their 'baby grand cru' as specific barrels are selected for vine age, concentration and power). Like the Montée de Tonnerre there is plenty of mineral reduction present on the fresh nose of tidal pool, pear and floral scents. The textured, powerful and solidly intense flavors possess good size and weight before concluding in a lemony and notably more persistent finale. This should reward a few years of aging yet be accessible in its youth.
Very pale, bright, green-tinged yellow. Subtle aromas of lemon, white pepper, spices and herbs. Sweet, round and rich, delivering the creaminess of the vintage energized by sound lemony acidity and underlying wet-stone minerality. Finishes with a bit more energy and saline grip than the Montmains. (ST)
