The 2015 Vosne AC is outstanding from the Drouhins this year, with more of a 2010-like personality than the Chambolle villages. This blend includes grapes from the premier crus of Chaumes and Malconsorts this year, in addition to larger parcels down by the RN-74. The bouquet is pure and vibrant, wafting from the glass in a mix of black raspberries, black cherries, bitter chocolate, dark soil tones, woodsmoke, Vosne spice and a touch of lead pencil. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, precise and sappy at the core, with excellent mineral drive, suave tannins and a very long, vibrant and tangy finish. A really dynamite villages! 2020-2050.
Medium red. Noteworthy lift and urgency to the perfumed aromas of raspberry, cranberry, spices and flowers. At once more intense and more supple than the Gevrey villages, with the perfumed quality carrying through in the mouth. The red berry flavors are complicated by saline and graphite notes. Shows excellent slowly rising length for a village wine, not to mention very good integration of tannins. An excellent showing: sappy and vibrant.(ST)
This too is mildly reduced and it's enough to mask the fruit while still providing glimpses of the underlying spice elements. The supple, round and delicious flavors possess both good volume and punch while the phenolically mature tannins are well-integrated on the balanced and vibrant finish. This is a relatively firmly structured Vosne villages and one that will need at least 4 to 5 years of cellar time first.
The 2015 Vosne-Romanée Village, which like the Gevrey-Chambertin Village contains a small proportion of premier cru fruit, has a fragrant, rose petal and red plum nose. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, quite dense for a village cru with quite a stocky but balanced, black pepper finish. This represents a satisfying Vosne-Romanée that I feel will benefit from a couple of years in bottle.(NM)
