Tightly held by its oak, this lean black wine takes hours of aeration before it reveals scents of Asian spice and violets. The fruit transitions from tart to fresh while the tannic blackness begins to hint at strawberries and minerals. It's light, velvety and long. Open it eight to ten years from the vintage.
A fine effort from this well-known St.-Estephe estate, this dark ruby/purple-tinged 2006 possesses earthy, herbal undertones intermixed with sweet black currant and cherry fruit. The projected aromatics are followed by a pure, medium-bodied, stylish wine (a blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc) that should be drunk over the next 10 years.
Shows bright, ripe fruit on the nose, with raspberry, cherry and light vanilla aromas. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins that have a slightly metallic edge and a slightly steely undertone. But this is fresh and clean. Needs time to mellow. Best after 2012.
