(made from vines that were reportedly planted in 1910) Green-tinged gold. High-pitched aromas of citrus zest, jasmine and quinine carry a chalky mineral overtone. Dry and linear on the palate, offering tangy lime pith and green apple flavors and a deeper peach note that appears in the midpalate. Shows very good clarity and mineral lift on the incisive finish, which leaves behind bitter citrus pith and succulent herb notes. (JR)
Another year or two should see the adolescent 2015 Enchanted Garden of the Eden Valley Riesling come into its own. It's got the raw materials of a top vineyard site in an excellent Riesling vintage, but this medium-bodied wine is caught between vibrant zestiness and the honeyed mellowing of time. Lemon-lime notes cling to youth, while marmalade and beeswax have yet to fully arrive. 90+ points. (JC)
