Half of this blend comes from an estate vineyard along the Napa River in Oak Knoll; much of the balance comes from a vineyard in Wooden Valley, in the hills northeast of Napa. One-third of the wine is made from the musque clone, which, along with fermentation in older oak, lends richness and fatness to the cool, spicy citrus flavors. There’s nothing aggressive about it, just juicy pink-grapefruit freshness that lasts.
The 2015 Sauvignon Blanc Aveta is an innovative blend of 79% Sauvignon Blanc and 21% Sauvignon Musqué. It offer notes of exotic tangerine oil, caramelized lemon, and a touch of orange rind in a medium-bodied, fragrant, luscious, exotic style of dry Sauvignon. It should drink nicely for another 1-2 years. (RP)
