Whitehall Lane's Tre Leoni is a proprietary red blend comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Zinfandel, and is a good, gutsy working that delivers the goods when it comes to plentiful, well-ripened fruit. It keys on cassis and dark berries with elements of herbs, sweet oak, cedar and black tea in support. Nuance and restraint are not on its list of achievements, at least not at this point, but richness and depth most certainly are, and among its most laudable traits is a price tag so surprisingly low that we admit to having checked it twice. *1/3 Stars & Good Value*
Whitehall Lane’s inexpensive proprietary blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Zinfandel, the 2014 Tre Leoni Red Wine, has a healthy, saturated, ruby/purple color, loads of delicious blackberry and cassis fruit, not much complexity, but a mouthfilling, savory, luscious style. This is a sleeper of the vintage, and a terrific value from Napa. (RP)
