Another wonderful cask from Buffalo Trace, this time under the Eagle Rare label. This special single barrel was filled on December, 12th 2005 and bottled in July of 2017. Almost a full 12 years old, the Eagle Rare is from the same flag ship low rye mashbill that are used for George T. Stagg, E.H. Taylor Small Batch, and the standard Buffalo Trace Small Batch. They are all aged in the famous brick patent warehouses, which have become iconic and the brands are selected by flavor profile. The Eagle Rare Single Barrel tends to have darker flavors and more spice than it's Small Batch sibling Buffalo Trace. This cask is no exception. Dark pungent baking spice, dried raisinated fruit, sweet roasted sugar and a wonderful hit of earthy forest floor on the finish.
